Vontaze Burfict jerseys seemingly always finds a way to get into some sort of physical altercation.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the league is investigating Burfict’s hit on the New England Patriots Tight End Martellus Bennett from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Patriots 35-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals jerseys.
Burkert hit Bennett’s knee as Tom Brady jerseys passed to Danny Amendola jerseys, which has nothing to do with the ongoing attack.
Bennett said after the game that Burfict apologized for the low blow: “He said he didn’t try to do it. But it’s part of the game. Stuff happens,” via USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.
After the Patriots’ win, Blount talked about the chippy nature of the game, saying that “when you’re losing games, it’s not easy to take,”according to CSN New England.
Burfict’s stigma will certainly be the basis for making the punishment.
In the repeated violation of competition-related provisions, he was banned at the beginning of the season. He’d previously been fined four times in 2015 alone for such violations. Burfict has been fined $204,329 since entering the league in 2012 as an undrafted free agent from Arizona State.
Regardless of whether he was intent on wounding Bennett, the impact was unnecessary and unrelated to an ongoing attack. But, considering it involves a player with a history of going too far, it’s probably worth a closer look.
