“Obviously it’s one of the best (teams) in the league — especially last year. They won the Super Bowl. They’re the reigning Super Bowl champs,” Lynch said in an interview on NFL Network. “They have a great defense. As a young quarterback, if (you get) a chance to play, that obviously benefits (me) a lot having the best defense in the league.”
The Lynch selection should also eliminate further speculation connecting the Broncos to 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who increasingly appears to be headed toward a August competition with Blaine Gabbert.
“There is no ceiling,” Ward told The Denver Post. “We can be as good as we want to be. We can become the best defense of all time. That’s what we’re working toward.”
The return of Miller ensures the edge rush will remain a dominant force. We expect second-year linebacker Shane Ray to improve his production and spell DeMarcus Ware more this season.
The Broncos hope the second-year quarterback can return to the lineup after missing just one game. Rookie Paxton Lynch threw for just 104 yards in his second career start last week and appears at least a year away from being the answer for John Elway’s team.
Siemian displayed vast improvement in his past three games prior to suffering the injury behind a porous offensive line. Once coach Gary Kubiak unshackled the seventh-round quarterback, Siemian showed a willingness to stretch the field, solid accuracy and good arm strength. He threw two-plus touchdowns in his past three starts.
The Broncos (4-1) were on their heels having to respect the play-action because Devonta Freeman jersey and cheap jerseys and Tevin Coleman jerseys were so effective running the ball, combining for 119 yards and a 4.4-yard average.
A week after setting a franchise record with 503 yards passing in a runaway win over Super Bowl 50’s other participant, the Carolina Panthers, Ryan threw for 267 yards Sunday and only two of those (covering 29 yards) went to Jones.
DENVER — Their bid for another epic victory over Tom Brady jersey and the New England Patriots, and possibly their chance to defend a Super Bowl championship, ended with a whimper Sunday afternoon in front of 76,893 chilled and dejected fans at Sports Authority Field. Then, immediately following a 16-3 defeat to their formidable AFC rivals, the Broncos’ frustrations boiled over, as a seemingly ho-hum attempt at postgame unity began and ended with a bang.
When the beaten Broncos spilled into the locker room, before the door was opened to reporters and other outsiders, coach Gary Kubiak gathered his players and asked if anyone wanted to address the team. Veteran left tackle Russell Okung, who signed with the Broncos last March, stepped forward to speak, and cornerback Aqib Talib strongly objected. According to several witnesses, that set off a spirited shouting match between the team’s defensive backs and offensive linemen — one which Kubiak had to diffuse before it turned ugly.
That mental toughness was on display once again when the Broncos faced the Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday afternoon. This didn’t seem like much of a game until Denver lost starting quarterback Trevor Siemian to a shoulder injury on his left (non-throwing) shoulder late in the second quarter. Suddenly the Broncos, leading 14-7 at the time of the injury, were forced to rely on untested rookie Paxton Lynch for the entire second half. All that dilemma did was give their defense more motivation to take over and the remainder of the Broncos ample reason to elevate their own performances.
The final score — 27-7 in favor of Denver — won’t tell the full story of what happened inside Raymond James Stadium that day. This was one more substantial piece of evidence that the Broncos, now 4-0, should be considered early front-runners to hoist another Lombardi Trophy.
There are some pretty underrated things in the world. Like when you’re fast forwarding through your favorite show and you stop at just the right moment when that final commercial ends. That’s like the best feeling, right? I mean, right when you see that couple settle into their respective tubs, you hit play and boom, the show starts right after that final side-effect warning is read and you see the TV-M box in the upper corner. Oh man, that is so sweet.
Well, maybe not as sweet as when Del Taco jersey finally decided to put full tomato slices in their tacos. Not cubed tomatoes like a hooligan would use. But I’m talking about a proper tomato slice that takes up nearly the whole side of the taco shell. I mean, the tomato cubes just seem lazy. Because you just know you’re being cheated.
Andy Reid’s club manhandled Oakland’s high-powered attack for the second time this season, vaulting from the AFC’s No. 5 seed to the two-hole behind the Patriots. The Raiders, on the other hand, plummeted from the mountain top to the fifth spot formerly occupied by Kansas City. The Chiefs’ first victory in 44 years with a negative-three turnover differential was a balanced effort, led by Bob Sutton’s defense, Tyreek Hill’s dynamic kick-return ability and Alex Smith’s out-of-body experience as a mad bomber blowing up Jack Del Rio’s secondary. The Chiefs are now an NFL-best 20-3 in their last 23 regular-season games, leading the league with a plus-197 point differential over that span. They have not lost a game in December since 2014.
It would be edgy to bury the Patriots behind Oakland, but we’re talking about a coach-and-quarterback combination that hasn’t missed the playoffs since 2002 (not counting the Matt Cassel season of ’08). New England has notched 10-plus wins in 14 straight seasons, the second-longest streak in NFL history. The loss of game-changing tight end Rob Gronkowski is concerning — it’s proven fatal in the past — but nobody catches Bill Belichick jersey and Tom Brady jersey by surprise. Can they be beaten? Yes. Will it be for lack of preparation and experience? Never.
Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson jersey was the only player to win multiple awards at the Home Depot College Football Awards presentation Thursday in Atlanta. He took home two of the night’s most prestigious honors, the Maxwell Award and cheap jerseys and the Walter Camp Award, both of which go to the nation’s top player.
Jackson, who is also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, led the Cardinals to a 9-3 record with dazzling athleticism, passing for 3,390 yards and rushing for 1,538 while accounting for 51 touchdowns (30 passing, 21 rushing). He’ll get a chance to add to those totals on Dec. 31 against LSU in the Citrus Bowl.
Hayward has been able to make plays partly because understands weak concepts. He lines up on the right side of the defense and is often on an island. On the back side, the cornerback sometimes receives help at the beginning of the play, but if the help doesn’t immediately move your way, you’re on your own. There’s a lot of pressure to not get beat because it’s hard for the OLB or safety to get to the receiver once the ball is thrown. However, Hayward has handled his business in one-on-one coverage and plays routes well, including a comeback route (when the QB delivers the ball at the same time the receiver turns to catch it), dig route (when a receiver runs a few yards and turns toward the middle) and go route (when a receiver runs straight upfield).
